The Publishing Executive’s Prayer

Oh God, grant me the power to delay the things I cannot change,
The PR budget to confuse the issue,
And a sweet job in a completely non-related industry before this all goes completely to Hell.

  1. The critical part? Timing.

If they can’t see when the tide is changing in their own industry, they are not going to be good at timing the jump to another – before they lose their prestige, and are unemployable in either.

Successful execs has an exquisitely-honed sense of timing.

Which makes me think we should WATCH them. When the rats start abandoning the ship, it is sinking.
